Gallery wraps, while not new in concept, are now gaining popularity in the photographic exhibit world. A gallery wrap, in my case, is a photo printed on canvas and then stretched on stretcher bars for mounting. This is similar to artists’ stretched canvases that have been used for centuries.
The bars have a depth size of anywhere from 3/4" (popular with acrylic and oil painting artists); 1 1/4" ; and 1 ½". Gallery wraps are generally lighter in weight than traditionally matted, and framed prints behind glass.
Gallery wraps are great for displaying your family portraits; and other photos. They are easy to hang. They provide a great display on any wall.
